Brewer’s Bout – Year long competition
You need to challenge yourself to improve your skills, no matter what it is. To improve my skills a a brewer I signed up to participate in the inaugural season of the “Brewer’s Bout’ competition. This is a year-long brewing competition run as an elimination bracket style tournament. It’s intense.
In each round, a group of competitors are given a challenge, either a special ingredient or a style or some other characteristic and you have six weeks to brew a beer for that challenge. After the judging some contestant go on to the next round and some are eliminated. Every six weeks there is a judging and you don’t find out what your next challenge will be until that day for the beer due the next six weeks later.
Recipe design, brewing process understanding what is and isn’t feasible in the short cycles are all factors tht have to be considered when producing the beer for each round.
Stay tuned for more information about each round as the results are in.
